Default My Proposal Month-long ATS

AT= Automated Tournament
ATS= Automated Tournament System

Hi,

I know it is still too early to know if the current ATS will have success or not. But I sadly found that the best hour-days (saturday and sunday) for a good AT (on america) was filled with top guilds with only 3 or 4 of them finishing the rounds.

I know maybe guilds are addapting themselves and maybe they will participate more on the future. But anyway, I find myself thinking on a different ATS style, which fits the way my guild plays gvg.
and if we assume many other guilds plays like us, i think this can be a nice option.

The principal problem on tournaments are definitely the schedule. Every guild has its own schedule and matching is not simple, specially for that day-long tournaments. And i think there is no real need to have a tournament that starts and ends the same day. Maybe some casual guilds wont be able to enter on a 1 day tournament, but the way the ATS are right now dont favor them at all either.

With no further delay:

Monthly ATS

Instead of having 3 tournaments every day, I propose to have 12 monthly-long tournaments.

On the last 2 days of every month, the leader or officer can register their guild to one (and only one) AT.

There will be 12 tournament options (swiss rounds), one for every even gmt hour. So everyone will find a just fine option. Once the registration time expires, pairings are announced to start on the first day of the month, and the matches will take place.

Each round will have 48 hours, and will take place on the hour of each tournament (one every 2 hours).

A match will consist on not only 1 gvg, but on 2 wins out of 3 gvgs vs the same guild. Starting at the right time of the tournament (with the 5 minutes timegap) and the 35 min max. So a maximum of 3 gvgs per day, thats a max of 2 hours and then a winner-losser or even draw will emerge.

Right after the end of the AT round (exactly 2 hours after that tournament hour) the next pairings will be announced. And the leader-officers will have 5 minutes from that time to select a preferable day to play the next match. Because we have 48 hours for each round the match has 2 days as options to be realized, which i think it is essential to allow some flexibility. The ATS will determine on which of the two days the match will take place according to:

-> the 2 guilds favor the same day: that day will be the match.
-> the 2 guilds favor different days: the system will random one of the 2 days.
-> one guild favor a day, the other didn't input any: the match will take place the day the guild with input favors.
-> no input from either guild: the system will random one of the 2 days.

A guild must register to each match (tokens tournament can be requested), the registration can start one hour early to the match. If a guild dont register to a match or If a proper guild team (14 days at least on guild) dont hit the join button before the 5 minutes after the AT-schedule a forfeit is placed. One forfeit on a match doesn't allow you to continue playing that match (for that AT round) but you can continue on the tournament.

You are allowed up to 3 forfeits per month. if you accumulate a fourth forfeit you are expelled from the tournament. Forfeits from a second or third gvg on a match do not count towards this. e.i. you may just play the first gvg against a very difficult opponent but if you dont want to play the second or third you will not be further penalized.

The tournaments will have 12 rounds, each round will have 48 hours, making it 24 days to the tournaments to be completed, then a registration will be open for the GvG Monthly Championship which will occur one of the last days of the month (the same way they are at the current ATS).

The top 5 guilds of every tournament earns the right to register on the Monthly championship which will take place the same way as planned now, the winner will be champion etc etc.

On the last two days of that month a registration for the next month will be open, and so on for eternity...

PD. please keep all contributions civilized.
